Jebat ACE Drift Challenge

DRIFTING TAKES A LOCAL SPIN
The hot, screeching action probably drew more than just sweat (if you get my drift)

ACE Suspension recently organized the Jebat ACE Drift Challenge that was held at Stadium Hang Jebat in Melaka. The competition is a smaller scale, local grassroot event as a follow-up to the GoodYear Formula D Drift Challenge in December. Held over the weekend, it was sponsored by ACE Suspension & Perbadanan Stadium Melaka with the support of Feinto-D. Drivers from Kuala Lumpur, Melaka and even Johor took part in the competition, with husband and wife, Ariff and Jane from GoodYear, were amongst the big names that took part in the drift challenge. The hot, screeching action probably drew more than just sweat (if you get my drift), giving the crowd a weekend’s worth of thrill with their impressive display of skill and powerful cars,  with occasional close shaves and ball clenching accidents. Keh Chuan Siew (Ah Keat) was the judge for the competition which saw Ariff taking the helm, topping the competition with his black Toyota AE86 to walk away with RM2000 and a body kit sponsored by Kim Seng. Derrick Lim, who drove an orange Toyota TE71 bagged the second prize of RM1000, followed by Hanizam @ Lowyai’s Red Nissan Cefiro A31, awarded with the third prize of RM500. The Jebat ACE Drift Challenge was as fun as it looks! There is also a video with snippets of the action on YouTube so check it out

GOODYEAR PRESENTS FORMULA DRIFT MALAYSIA

When these guys go on a spin in their cars, they do it literally! Formula Drift has brought the thunder that struck the American drifting scene by storm since 2003 has collaborated with Good Year to hold Malaysia’s largest international drifting event at the scenic Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). The motor sport which started in Japan approximately 10 years ago received an overwhelming response from the public this time around showed Malaysia’s enthusiasm and support for it. 54 professional drifters from Japan, New Zealand, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong , Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore competed in this grand event. International celebrity drivers included Mad Mike Whiddet (New Zealand) and Ryuji Miki (Japan) and our very own Tengku Djan.  The qualifiers that trimmed 54 drivers down to a top 32 group saw Tengku Djan top the chart with 88.7 points and runner-up to Mad Mike, Japanese Ryuji Miki qualified third.

KISMAS Airbrush Workshop 2009

Never judge a book by its cover?  At Pro-Tuners, we believe the cover is just as important as the book but enough about books because on December 19th,Kelab Autoshow hosted the KISMAS Airbrush Workshop in Putra Stadium Bukit Jalil and we definitely had to be there. The competitions, prizes, models, cars and hundreds of workshops were all there for the show. KISMAS held challenges for the best airbrush, best sticker and best modifications. Be honest here, how many times have we gawked at horribly done paint jobs that we casually see on the roads from time to time? Probably too many times to count but there is hope as the KISMAS Airbrush Workshop invited professional design and graphic artistes from Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia to throw their weight around. Award winning, world renowned airbrush artist, Daniel Power showed us his magician like abilities along with home-grown talent DJ Jazz. Not only did they flaunt their talent but their time spent in honing their craft as well, leaving our jaws dropped, locked and shocked by the thousands. There was definitely much to be learned and appreciated as well with decal specialists from Tom’s Stickers performing a live demonstration of what it is that they do best.  A night to remember as we look forward to the next one but for now, it is time to hit the after-party!
